OH|ID Guides & Job Aid Repository

Welcome to the Guides site – a comprehensive online repository of job aids for using the OH|ID portal (ohid.ohio.gov). This page will remain up to date with the current version of every OH|ID job aid.

App Store: Find & Request an App

Go to the App Store tab.

  1. Type the app or agency name in the Search bar.
  2. Click the tile of the app you would like to request access to.
  3. Click Request Access to Group.
  4. Read and agree to the Terms and Conditions.
  5. Click Request Access to Group.
  6. Go to the "My Apps" tab. Your apps will be visible on the page once access is granted.

Change Current Password

Go to the Account Settings tab.

  1. Click Password under the "Signing into OH|ID" section.
  2. Enter your new password.
  3. Click Save Changes.

Create a New Citizen Account

Go to ohid.ohio.gov and click Create OH|ID Account.

  1. Enter a personal and private email address. We’ll send you a one-time PIN.
  2. Enter the one-time PIN to verify your email.
  3. Enter your legal first and last names, and date of birth.
  4. Pick a username. This will be your OH|ID.
  5. Create a password.
  6. Add a mobile number as an account recovery option.
  7. Agree to the Terms & Conditions and answer the verification question.
  8. Click Create Account.
  9. Wait for a confirmation email before attempting to log in for the first time.

Create Contractor (3x)

Log into ohid.ohio.gov with your workforce credentials. 

  1. Click the Manage Contractors application (under "My Apps") and select Create Contractors.
  2. Select "Create Single Contractor Account" and click Submit.
  3. Complete the fields on the account creation form and click Submit.  Fields with an asterisk (*) are mandatory.  
    • The Agency and Sponsor fields are automatically populated based on your information. 
    • If the End Date is unknown, use the end of fiscal or calendar year.
  4. An “Account Created” email notification will be sent to the “Sponsor” (you) and “Reports To” Manager with the contractor’s temporary password. 
  5. Next, look up the contractor's workforce ID. Select the option for Modify Contractors.
  6. In the Search field, type the contractor’s last name.
  7. Click on the Search filter button and select the corresponding option from the dropdown (First Name, Last Name, or User ID).
  8. Click the Search icon (magnifying glass) to load the results. The contractor’s OH|ID Workforce ID is listed in the “UserID” column. 
  9. Provide the contractor with their temporary password and user ID. (for security reasons, do so in separate emails or over the phone.)
    • The contractor will need to log in to myOhio to complete their account set up and reset their temporary password. 
    • The contractor must log in at least every 60 days to maintain an active account.

Create Contractor Accounts in Bulk

  1. Log into ohid.ohio.gov with your workforce credentials. 
  2. Click the Manage Contractors application (under "My Apps") and select Create Contractors.
  3. Select "Bulk Load Contractors," and pick your pre-filled template file to load. Click Submit
  4. An “Account Created” email notification will be sent to the “Sponsor” and “Reports To” Manager for each contractor with their temporary password.

Create External Worker (5x)

Log into ohid.ohio.gov with your workforce credentials. 

  1. Go to the My Apps section of your OH|ID account and launch the "Manage External Workforce User" application.
  2. Select Create External Workforce User.
  3. Complete the fields on the Account Creation form. Fields with an asterisk (*) are mandatory.  
    • The Agency and Sponsor fields are auto-populated based on the Sponsor’s information. If the End Date is unknown, use the end of fiscal or calendar year.
  4. Click Submit. You will receive an account creation confirmation.
    • An “Account Created” email notification will be sent to the “Sponsor” and “Reports To” Manager with the External Workforce User’s temporary password.

Deactivate Contractor (3x)

Log into ohid.ohio.gov with your workforce credentials. 

  1. Click the Manage Contractors application (under "My Apps") and select Deactivate Contractors.
  2. In the Search field, type the contractor’s last name or OH|ID Workforce ID.
  3. Click on the search filter button and select the corresponding option from the dropdown (First Name, Last Name, or User ID).
  4. Click the search icon (magnifying glass) to load the results.
  5. Select the user you want to deactivate and click Submit.
  6. Click Confirm in the conformation dialog.

Deactivate External Worker (5x)

Log into ohid.ohio.gov with your workforce credentials. 

  1. Go to the My Apps section of your OH|ID account and launch the "Manage External Workforce User" application.
  2. Select Deactivate External Workforce Users.
  3. Search for an External Workforce User account using the following steps.
    • Type the External worker’s first name, last name, or OH|ID Workforce User ID into the search bar
    • Click the search filter dropdown and select the corresponding option for what was entered in the search bar.
    • Click the search icon to submit your search.
  4. From the search results, select the radio button to the left of the External Workforce user you wish to modify
  5. Click Submit.
  6. Click Confirm in the pop-up window (or click the X to return to search results)
  7. The dropdown menu to the under the “Rehire?” category will reveal two options. Choose the appropriate response.
  8. The default selection is “Eligible for Rehire” if not action is taken here. The “Reason” field (to the left) will be auto-populated based on your previous selection (either “None” or “Not in Good Standing”).
  9. Click Submit. You will receive an account removal confirmation screen.

Edit Your Account Recovery Options

Go to the Account Settings tab.

  1. Click Password Recovery.
  2. Click Edit or Set Up next to the option you wish to add or modify.
    • Email (required)
      • Enter your email address. NOTE: It must be a personal email account; it cannot end in .gov
      • Enter the verification code sent to the email address you entered.
      • Click Verify.
      • Click Save Changes.
    • Text Message
      • Enter your phone number.
      • Enter the verification code sent to your phone through text message.
      • Click Verify.
      • Click Save Changes.
    • Security Questions
      • Select your three (3) security questions.
      • Enter the answers to your three questions.
      • Click Save Changes.

Edit Personal Information

Go to the Account Settings tab.

  1. Click Personal Information.
  2. Click Edit in the “Full Legal Name”, “Registered Email Address”, “Last 4 of your SSN”, or “Date of Birth” sections to make changes to your personal information.
  3. Click Save.

Favorite an App

Go to the My Apps tab.

  1. Click the star on the top right corner of the app you would like to favorite.
  2. Refresh the page. Your favorited apps will display first.

Forgot Password 

Go to Forgot Password.

  1. Enter your OH|ID (username or number).
  2. Answer the validation question.
  3. Click Next. Some or all of the recovery options listed below will available.
     
    • Text or Email: Choose how you want to receive the one-time code that will get you back into your account.
      • Enter the verification code and create a new password. 
      • Click Save Changes.
         
    • Security Questions: Answer the two (2) questions correctly – answers are case sensitive – and reset your password.
      • Click Save Changes.
         
    • Third-party Verification: If you are at least 18 years old, you can attempt an identity proofing quiz to recover your account. The quiz is uniquely generated for you by Experian® and contains questions based on information from your credit history. 
      • Agree to the terms and conditions.
      • Fill out the Basic Information, Residential Address, and Other Information sections.
      • Click Submit.
      • Answer the Experian questions that are generated. There will be four (4) in total. 
      • Click Verify to see your results. 
      • Create a new password and click Save Changes

NOTE: This does not impact your credit score and none of the information you enter will be retained by OH|ID or the State of Ohio.

Forgot Username

Go to Forgot Username.

  1. Enter the email you used to create your account.
  2. Answer the validation question.
  3. Click Submit.

Modify Contractor (3x)

Log into ohid.ohio.gov with your workforce credentials. 

  1. Click the Manage Contractors application (under "My Apps").
  2. To search for an active or inactive contractor account, select Modify Contractors.
    • You can also look up contractors with a future start date. 
  3. In the Search field, type the contractor’s last name or OH|ID Workforce ID.
  4. Click on the search filter button and select the corresponding option from the dropdown (First Name, Last Name, or User ID).
  5. Click the Search icon (magnifying glass) to load the results.
  6. Select the user you want to modify and click Submit.
  7. Click Confirm in the conformation dialog.
  8. Adjust any attributes as needed and click Submit.
    • To reactivate a user, you must enter the official start and end dates. The account will become active at midnight on that start date.

Modify External Worker (5x)

Log into ohid.ohio.gov with your workforce credentials. 

  1. Click the Manage External Workforce User application (under "My Apps").
  2. To search for an active or inactive contractor account, select Modify External Workforce User.
  3. In the Search field, type the user's last name or OH|ID Workforce ID.
  4. Click on the search filter button and select the corresponding option from the dropdown (First Name, Last Name, or User ID).
  5. Click the Search icon (magnifying glass) to load the results.
  6. Select the user you want to modify and click Submit.
  7. Click Confirm in the conformation dialog.
  8. Adjust any attributes as needed and click Submit.
    • To reactivate a user, you must enter the official start and end dates. The account will become active at midnight on that start date.

Multi-factor Authentication (MFA): Enable/Modify

Go to the Account Settings tab.

  1. Click 2-Step Verification.
  2. Click Configure to set up your MFA options for the first time (or click Modify to view your existing options). A new tab will launch you to IBM Security Verify.
  3. Click Add new method + and select at least 2 verification methods to set up. The OH|ID team recommends you enable a phone number and a personal email address.
  4. Click New number and/or New email. Enter your mobile number or email address and click Send access code.
  5. Enter the access code sent to you and click Verify. Then click Done. Each code is valid for 5 minutes.
  6. Repeat these steps to add a second MFA option.
  7. Close the IBM Security Verify tab you have been working in. There is no need to log out first. Your MFA set-up is complete.

Reactivate Contractor (3x)

Log into ohid.ohio.gov with your workforce credentials. 

  1. Click the Manage Contractors application (under "My Apps") and select Modify Contractors.
  2. In the Search field, type the contractor’s last name or OH|ID Workforce ID.
  3. Click on the search filter button and select the corresponding option from the dropdown (First Name, Last Name, or User ID).
  4. Click the Search icon (magnifying glass) to load the results.
  5. Select the user you want to reactivate and click Submit.
  6. Click Confirm in the conformation dialog.
  7. Modify the official start and end dates
    • If the end date is unknown, use the end of fiscal or calendar year.
  8. Click Submit. The account will become active at midnight (ET) of the start date.
  9. The contractor will need to reset their account password by using the Forgot Password flow and entering their Workforce User ID.

Reactivate External Worker (5x)

Log into ohid.ohio.gov with your workforce credentials. 

  1. Go to the My Apps section of your OH|ID account and launch the "Manage External Workforce User" application.
  2. Select Modify External Workforce Users.
  3. Search for an External Workforce User account using the following steps:
    • Type the External worker’s first name, last name, or OH|ID Workforce User ID into the search bar.
    • Click the search filter dropdown and select the corresponding option for what was entered in the search bar.
    • Click the search icon to submit your search.
  4. From the search results, select the radio button to the left of the External Workforce user you wish to modify.
  5. Click Submit.
  6. Click Confirm in the pop-up window (or click the X to return to search results).
  7. Make changes to user information and/or work information, if needed.
  8. Click Submit. You will receive an Account Modified confirmation screen.

Recent Activity & Devices

Go to the Security Profile tab.

  1. Click Recent Activity.
  2. If there is an unrecognized sign in, click Report Suspicious Activity.
  3. Select a reason for reporting.
  4. Click Report Activity.

Security Level Settings

Go to the Security Profile tab.

  1. Navigate to the Identity Assurance section.
  2. To increase account security to Intermediate:
    • Click Complete Verification under the Intermediate level.
    • Agree to the terms and conditions.
    • Fill out the Basic Information, Residential Address, and Other Information sections.
    • Click Submit.
    • Answer the Experian questions that are generated. There will be 4 total. 
    • Click Verify to see your results. 
       
  3. To increase account security to Advanced: 
    • Click on Complete Verification.
    • Supply the requested information from your State of Ohio Driver License or Identification Card.
    • Click Verify.

NOTE: You have to complete the Intermediate security level before you can apply for the Advanced security level.
